about

I will record this song even if it kills me.
Coming out of a lengthy relationship I felt there where a few things left unsaid. I also felt I had to put it on this album. Where the lyrics may not give you the full picture, it will show you what things did to me over time. Showing that, if love turn out to be a crescent moon, instead of taking it to new heights, you may have to take a step back in order to see more clearly. To refocus on your path, dreams and destiny.

lyrics

5. Gung-Ho

Steve Cyning:
No sweet secret I was digging your roots.
What's good. Now look at that ***, yeah you good.
Sipping drinks, one thing, too much of liquor.
Still driving your own shit. Yeah, she a keeper.
A diva. Not only your features, but the way that you speak-ah.
A pleasure to meet ya. I be taking ya home.
Speak on the phone. Love poems. Hushed tones.
A losing bet made me making you dinner.
The queen that I want has a thing like a king.
Lioness, just short of halo and wings.
The way we connect is like Erasmus to Rotterdam.
I lend you my jacket to be sure I saw you back again.
Back again, introducing that Wu-Wear.
Reciting that C.R.E.A.M. at the Britain near Beurs square.
For those who weren't there, that was my girl:
Quietly shopping and still rocking my world. Eyo.

Now that star's out of reach: Disappearing in the distance.
It's orange breeze runs a shiver down my spine.
Memories like mirrors in a prison. Visions.
Reflecting on your love and the day that it was mine.
Our little piece of heaven. Still remember how it felt:
Warm bedsheets. The place where lucifer fell.
From heaven to hell, got to admit that I was wrong:
Truth in what they tell; you don't miss it till it's gone.

I did you wrong because I was f^&#@* up lost.
We never did a war-tour that wasn't your lingo.
Gung-ho you threatened me single.
You was right, so I couldn't be angry with you. Your eyes,
the gunslingers at high noon.
Silence more worse than a typhoon.
I do love you, but do understand;
all we went through is what made me a man.
Your message so brutal, delivery was kind.
What hurts is that it's true and all ya said was right.
But while you was chasing dreams I wasn't merely watching.
I took you in my arms so you could touch it.
Every time you suffered I took you to that star
to re-enlight the fire that was dancing in your heart.
Dancing was your heart and thus it wasn't mine.
Dancing was your star, a dream. Yeah, she was mine.

Now that star's out of reach. Disappearing in the distance.
Many other stars are appearing in the sky.
Memories like mirrors in a prison. Visions.
Maybe it's a sign. I should use it as a guide.
Use it as a guide, cuz the stars will align.
And when they do, they will show me the truth. It's a truce.
It's a sign of good things to come.
Maybe one step back, but never back to square one.

about

Steve Cyning Rotterdam, Netherlands

Steve Cyning staat voor dromen in koninklijk meervoud. Diepe metaforen en heldere beeldspraak, geïnspireerd door koningen uit een mythisch verleden.

"Mijn gedachten zijn als een diepe, inktzwarte oceaan. Onstuimig of kalm. Altijd vol leven.
Mijn dromen zijn de sterren van de oneindigheid, die de duisternis doorboren. Die reflecteren in mijn oceaan en zorgen voor een majestueus schouwspel."
